Those in favor of bringing an immigration law like Arizona's SB 1070 held a rally at the state capitol to show their support. Those that feel that this type of law is a racist slippery slope showed up in opposition. The cops had everyone out numbered, and were armed to the teeth, because a few of the geezers that support SB 1070 were also armed.

How do we force a multi-national corporation to pay the ACTUAL cost of an ONGOING spill of over 200,000 gallons a day? The oil has made landfall in the critical coastal wetlands of Louisiana. This tragedy affects us all, regardless of where we live because this habitat is host to migratory species, many of which are classified as Critical or Endangered. Lives will be lost. Species may be lost forever. How does one QUANTIFY that loss in DOLLARS??? Preposterous! It can't be done!

So what IS the solution? How DO we proceed?

Hundreds gather at the TX State Capitol to protest the Death Penalty. After so many people have been exhonerated it is unfathomable that this archaic practice still exists within our "justice" system. On Tuesday Oct. 27, 2009 Reginald Blanton will be murdered by the state unless Governor Rick Perry grants him a Stay of Execution. Call Governer Perry and tell him to stop this unconscienable practice today! Before another innocent person is murdered in your name.

A New Way Forward organized a national day of protest against the banking bailouts and the heavy presence of bank interests in control of our governmental policy.

Today was the official second day of South By South West Interactive, and I had the great fortune of attending some of the free workshops surrounding the highly expensive event at Bar Camp. As a luddite, I found this quite an edifying experience.

it is a sad state of affairs that we are not allowed free passage within the united states. there are checkpoints in every state as you cross the country that daily violate our constitutional rights with random searches. along the border the department of homeland security has taken to spying on citizens, and downright harassment of populations of color by the border patrol.

We held our first Micro-Cast on Sunday the 15th in Slab City.
Micro-Cast is an outdoor screening of our independent media in underserved communities. This first Micro-Cast went off without a hitch! we had about 15 Slabbers in attendance, many of whom have little or no access to the outside world unless they go into town and use the public library.

after spending the last month in the "slabs", i finally got a real shower last night!
you might say that not having a real shower for a month is gross. and you would be right. but in the slabs there is running water, a la geothermal hot wells, but it ain't that clean. the cleanest you get is showering in the culvert downstream, with volunteer maintained bio-remediation pools with cattails and fish etc to clean the water pretty good. well, it still smells a little funky, and it gives you dreadlocks as you can see in this lovely photo.

anyway, Flux and i went with jim and rene and had a great time golfing at gopher flats out in slab city. it is a really fun golf course, and this being my first time, i am not sure, but it looked a little dry.

11/6/08, Austin, TX The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1091 is in their second day of a drivers' and mechanics' strike on Capitol Metro.

Yesterday was the 32nd occasional Doo Dah Parade in Old Town Pasadena, CA. The Mobile Broadcast News team (me and Flux) was there in force supporting the REAL queen of Doo Dah, Erica Valentine.
