I'm writing this using some examples from correspondence with our earliest members.  If you are mentioned here and would like the reference removed, let me know.

Setting Up Your Profile

Your Account Profile
After Clicking your Account Profile EDIT Tab.
You will see these 3 sub tabs

Account  |  Net Life  |  Real Life

each of these tabs has information boxes that will show up in the "About
This Author" block next to all of your blog posts and in your full
Profile when someone checks you out.

Remember to use the http:// part of your URLs
otherwise they won't work.

Your Username
The username will accept spaces and you are allowed to change your username. Your blog will be called "Username's blog", so if you'd like to make it "cheryl speaks out" you can.  It will also accept Capitol Letters ie. "Cheryl Speaks Out".

Your Donations Link / TIP JAR
Be sure to paste your PayPal email address into the "Tip Jar" area of you account profile.  It shows up on the site as "TIP JAR" on your blog posts.  It defaults to FluxRostrum's Paypal if you don't paste yours in.

Your Blog URL
Unfortunately our URL is long to begin with BUT If you'd like your blog to have a custom URL it can be changed to what ever you want ... ie

Currently
http://MobileBroadcastNews.com/MBN/blog/16
can become
http://MobileBroadcastNews.com/MBN/Liberal-Jew-vs-Right-Wing-Catholics
or .. whatever..  If you'd like yours changed Contact the Staff.

Importing Your Previous Blog / Automating Your MBN Blog
If you want; our Staff can import the posts from your other blog and automate the process so you don't have to repost things here.  Just contact the Staff and let them know.
It is great for bringing in your old posts quickly but most people who have used this feature seem to agree that once your old posts are imported And Redited it is best to turn off the auto poost because sometimes you don't want Every post from your personal site reposted here.

Using FaceBook Connect
From the MBN LOG IN page, if you click the Facebook Connect button INSTEAD of Loggin In you will get a Facebook pop up.  Enter your Facebook log in email and Facebook password and this will log you into BOTH MBN and Facebook.  You should then see a link near the bottom of the right hand column that says Facebook Friends... "invite friends".  You can help expand our audience by inviting all you Facebook friends and Facebook Connect will make publishing MBN links to your Facebook a step or 2 easier.

Blogging Tips
Pasting a URL or email address into your post will automatically create a link.
Your Blog Title will become part of your posts URL; this is used by search engines to determine search ranking. So choosing your titles with this in mind will increase your blogs reach.

From the "Create Content" / "Blog Entry" page...

1. Embed Your Media
   Just below the Blog Title field there is a link "Embed Your Media"
   Click it, it will open up the embed fields for you to paste your embed codes into.  It should be fairly self explanatory from there.
2. Body
   This where your text goes. You can hover your mouse over the little buttons to see what they do.  Some buttons open pop up windows with places to paste your info.  So you may get a pop up warning.
3. Input Format
   Click to open the Input Fields options.
   If you are creating the blog ON this site you can probably set the Input Format  to "Filtered HTML".  If it doesn't look right in the preview try changing it to "Full HTML".  For Audio/Video comments you must check the Audio/Video comment option BEFORE recording your comment with the Riffly Interface.
   
   If your blog has been imported from somewhere else.  You will need to go to each imported post and hit the EDIT tab and change the Input Format to "Full HTML"  before it will display properly.
4. Tags
   This is a COMMA separated list.  Type in a few Keywords that represent your content and are imperative to the relevant content that will be displayed with your work.  When you start typing a word in the tags text box... If you hesitate
   after a couple of letters a list of words that are
   already used will appear below the text box. 
   
   In order for content to come up in the relevant content it has to be spelled (capitalized) exactly like another post. .  These are also used to make up the "Tag Cloud" at the top of some of the pages and will also help with your search engine placement.
5. Menu Settings / User Roles
   (You should not see this option unless you are a "Curator")
   By default everyone who signs up is an "Authenticated User"  You may apply to be a "Producer" if you will be posting regularly with original content.  You may apply to be a "Curator" if you are well versed in the use of Drupal websites and would like to help moderate Mobile Broadcast News; there is a Tab called "Apply For Role" in your Account Profile.
6. Related links
   This is where you can paste the URL and display text of any links that are relevant to your content.  I recommend using this to post DOWNLOAD links for your video or audio and links to the people or things mentioned in your post. There are initially spaces for 2 links but you can add as many as you'd like.  After previewing your post more boxes will appear.
7. Meta tags
   If your copyright notice for THIS particular post is different than the one you stated in your profile you can state that here.
8. Revision Information
   (You should not see this option unless you are a Curator)
   Used internally to share info regarding changes made to content by Curators.
9. URL Path Settings
   The site is set up to automatically create search engine friendly URLs using the Title of Your Post.  If you'd like to override that setting then UNCLICK the box next to "Automatic alias" and type in the last part of your desired URL (the part that will come AFTER    ....com/MBN/
   
   IF YOU OVERRIDE THE AUTO SETTING YOU WILL NEED TO OVERRIDE AGAIN EVERY TIME YOU EDIT THE POST otherwise all links to the post will become broken.
10. Comment Settings
    If you want to disable comments for your post you can do that here.
    
    
11. Authoring Information
    (You should not see this option unless you are a Curator)
    This should automatically say your Username.
12. Publishing Options
    (You should not see this option unless you are a Curator)
    This is for placing posts on the front page and/or making them "sticky" to the top of categories.
