As I am about to post this blog piece, I just got a call from a man named Garvard Good Plume at Pine Ridge telling me that Wounded Knee is being auctioned off RIGHT NOW.  I feel sick.  Meanwhile, here's what I wrote earlier today....

I am sitting in a cafe in Rapid City, South Dakota on the Pine Ridge Reservation, early for my interview with Charmaine White Face.  I watched the riveting, heartbreaking and informative film "Red Cry" for the second time last night to prepare for this interview.  I also studied the very specific and helpful directives about how non-indigenous people can support indigenous people at www.lakotagrandmothers.org.

More than 250 protesters challenge drones, war and empire at Hancock Field Air Base
31 protesters arrested for blocking base entrance and other civil resistance

The protest started in front of the Thompson Road entrance to the base. After speeches, music and poetry, the protesters marched down East Molloy Road in a dramatic funeral procession to the base's main entrance, where several were arrested for laying down and blocking the main entrance to the base. Others were arrested for various acts of civil resistance. Sunday's rally was part of the three-day weekend event Resisting Drones, Global War and Empire: A Convergence to Action. It's a question on many minds in the Weirton, West Virgina and Ohio Valley Areas. The case is 2 years old  with one man being charged, and eventually all charges being dismissed. A grand Jury was convened in January to see if any other individuals would be charged, or if new charges would be filed against the original suspect. The grand jury found no reason to file additional charges, or charge anyone else.

The case has come back into the public's eyes lately with facebook pages titled Justice for Khylii and Khylii's Justice. An online petition has been set up to reopen the case, refile charges and bring justice for  Khylii Keffer who sustained heavy trauma to her stomach on February 27, 2011.

According to Paramedic dispatch reports and records,  on February 17. 2011 Paramedics arrived on scene at Khylii's home at 5:57 Pm for a 3 year old that was lethargic, and turning blue.  They were met on the front steps by Amber Coen (Khylii's mom) who was carrying Khylii outside.

9 jurors and 5 alternates were selected for the Steubenville grand jury set to investigate further charges against others in the Steubenville case.  The jury was whittled down from 150 jefferson county residents that reported to the courthouse yesterday morning. The grand jury will be tasked with deciding if other crimes were commited by 16 indivduals.
 

On the heels of the most repressive anti-abortion legislation in the country, Spring broke through the tough crust of winter with a bang on Monday. In cities across North Dakota, women came out by the hundreds to oppose legislation that cuts to the core of their basic freedoms. The message was clear, the ND state legislature and Governor Dalrymple have no right to impose the kinds of restrictions this legislation calls for. The new legislation calls for a complete ban on abortion, regardless of circumstance (rape, threat to the health of the mother, etc.), in what was described by one protester as “An assault on women’s dignity.” ;

On February 17^th, 2011, an ambulance was sent to the residence of Amber Coen and her boyfriend, Don Weekley II. Inside the home, paramedics found three-year-old Khylii Keffer’s limp, nearly-lifeless body. She was unresponsive, and her skin was an alarming purple hue, indicating that she was receiving little oxygen.  The on-scene paramedics’ report described her as “flaccid, demonstrating no motor control.” Her body was beginning to shut down, they said, and blood was rushing from her arms and legs in order to save her vital organs. The little girl was transported to Weirton Medical Center, and was then life-flighted to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was taken to surgery and then placed on life support in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. The emergency procedure left the little girl’s stomach exposed for nearly eight days (1).

Doctors believed Khylii sustained traumatic internal injuries around February 17^th, which caused a large hole in her stomach. Infection from her untreated injuries caused the three-year-old to go into septic shock, resulting in the purplish color paramedics described upon their arrival. They were able to establish this approximate timeline based on her stomach contents (1).

A group within Anonymous known as FreiheitSec have recently been doing mass website defaces in support of #OpInnocence. #OpInnocence was initiated when Tyler Graham, 19 years old, of Weirton, West Virginia was arrested for raping and giving a STD to a 2 year old little girl, he was later released on a $50,000 bond. The accounts that are behind the defaces are known on Twitter as @FreiheitSecAnon & @Python_Inj3ct. As of this moment it looks as if at least a couple hundred websites have undergone defaces by this team.

The #OpInnocence rally is on Saturday 2 March 2013 at the Hancock County Courthouse in New Cumberland, West Virginia.

We will continue to keep on top of #OpInnocence as it unfolds.

On February 22, 2013, Anonymous released a video message on Youtube.com under the hashtags #OpWeirton and #OpPedoHunt. In the video, an individual, wearing the now widely-recognized Guy Fawkes mask, expressed disgust over the recent alleged sexual assault of a two-year-old child from Hancock County, West Virginia and announced a rally at the Hancock County Courthouse in New Cumberland, WV on March 2^nd at 12:00 p.m. to recognize and support the 2-year-old Jane Doe.

Tyler Graham, 19, from Weirton, WV was arrested and faces one count of Sexual Abuse by a Parent, Guardian, Custodian or Person in Position of Trust to a Child. Graham was considered to be a person in position of trust because he was dating the child’s mother.  Graham was released on a $50,000.00 bail (5). More charges may be filed at a later time (4).

Graham is also accused of giving the toddler a sexually transmitted disease. Weirton Police Detective Gerard Spencer says this is “probably one of the worst cases,” he’s seen on the job. According to Spencer, relatives took the child to the doctor with what they thought was a case of severe diaper rash but were told by alarmed doctors that there was something seriously wrong.

“Weirton Medical Center called us to come up there. A 2-year-old baby had just had surgery for wounds relating to a sexual abuse case," Spencer told reporters (4).

Police and doctors aren’t the only ones who seem concerned. Many locals expressed outrage towards the alleged perpetrator and described graphic and violent ways to punish him almost as soon as the Anonymous video was uploaded to Youtube.  A few people, however, expressed concern that the video and the presence of Anonymous would trigger a witch hunt. Due to the graphic and sensitive nature of the crime, it is easy to understand that emotions are at an all-time high in Weirton.

Unpermitted March does not mean the police can now hurt the people for public safety!?

This is a video with clips taken from the recent 2.14.13 unpermitted One Billion Rising March, recently in Portland in which the police treated peacefully the unpermitted marchers *this time.

In contrast: There is out-takes added from May Day 2012 and from the N3 Austerity march in 2012 that were both unpermitted marches... where folks who were protesting were then pepersprayed, blocked and tackled by the police. [while in the street trying to march]

One Billion Rising Pittsburgh 2/13/13 

Filmed on `1/12/13, The town of steubenville holds a rally in support of their kids who are allegedly being threatened by anonymous....however the rally seemed to me to be more about supporting the big red football team. I was harassed immediately upon arriving despite displaying my credentials as the 20 people at the rally claimed i was anonymous. 2 women were assigned to try and block my cameras to which they failed in that task.

Buffalo Point First Nation, Manitoba, Canada.

Just north of Warroad, Minnesota, on the Canadian side of the border, there lies an Indian Reservation known as Buffalo Point. The sign that welcomes you reads "Buffalo Point International Resort" but one day myself and other band members hope that it will read "Buffalo Point First Nation."

The sign itself foreshadows the priorities set by the past two non-aboriginal chiefs. A reserve that is picture-perfect and pristine as a tourist destination, but failing in representation of and responsibility to the Anishinaabe, the aboriginal people to whom the reserve belongs.
