It gets hazy, the haze solidifying in that space between points of memory. I want to say that I started traveling New York City. That I started to mark off all the– must sees– of NYC. I didn’t. I had moved to NYC to live there, and figured that I’d see it as I proceeded to live. You know? I was in no hurry to see the Statue of Liberty, so much so, that I’ve yet to see it up close. I settled into Bedstuy, in my small room and proceeded to just walk around Brooklyn. I’d moved from a city of 60 thousand, which was in a state that was about 700 thousand people. New York, is pretty much everything you’ve heard NYC to be…
I spent those first few days walking to all the local Bodega’s, and searching for food spots near where I was staying. I knew nothing of where I was at, so started doing slow spins around the area. It was laundrymats and corner stores. It was sparkling Jewish groceries and take out Chinese restaurants that all sported the same menu.
I was in New York, like so many other people were in New York. I was overeducated, unattached, and had nothing to do but kickass. I laugh at that now, but look back recalling my anger after applying for over a hundred jobs…. “Could you imagine what I would have done for someone if they’d have hired me,” I’d say to my roomates. I don’t know if it was rejection, or cockiness, but I’d ramble on about how any place hiring me would have had an improvement. Maybe I was just pissed.
WS – The invisible killer. I’m talking media and US government blackout of this in the name of global corporatism.
In her book titled “No Immediate Danger: Prognosis for a Radioactive Earth,” nuclear power/environmental health expert Rosalie Bertell (1929 – 2012) said:
“Should the public discover the true health cost(s) of nuclear pollution, a cry would rise from all parts of the world and people would refuse to cooperate passively with their own death.”
In her article titled “Radioactivity: No Immediate Danger,” she coined a new word. “Omnicide” describes the ultimate human rejection of life. It’s “difficult to comprehend,” but it’s happening, she said.
She called industrial radioactive pollution “cumulatively greater than Chernobyl. We are now in a no-win situation with radioactive materials, where (it’s) acceptable to have cancer deaths, deformed children and miscarriages.”
Industry propaganda falsely claims nuclear power is clean and green. The nuclear fuel cycle discharges significant amounts of greenhouse gases.
It’s also responsible for hundreds of thousands of curies of deadly radioactive gases and elements in the environment annually.
“Claiming nuclear production of energy is ‘clean,’ ” said Bertell, “is like dieting but stuffing yourself with food between meals.”
Separately, she said:
“There is no such thing as a radiation exposure that will not do damage. There is a hundred per cent possibility that there will be damage to cells. The next question is: which damage do you care about?”
Search warrants executed at Steubenville high school in connection with grand jury investigation and Jane Doe rape case
With 5 days before a grand jury hears evidence against 16 individuals for failing to cooperate in the Jane Doe rape case investigation (among other possible charges). Search Warrants were executed at the Steubenville Board of Education Offices, The Steubenville High School, Vestige limited in Medina County and other locations in connection with Ohio Attorney general Mike Dewine's ongoing investigation in the Jane Doe Rape Case.
Coach Reno was at the Harding Stadium House when Ohio BCI Agents arrived to also serv search warrants. Steubenville police were also on scene.
What Ohio BCI agents and Steubenville Police officers were searching for remain a mystery as the scope of the warrants remain sealed by a court order.
Sources on the ground in Steubenville tell me that more warrants and locations may be searched within the next few days.
The Grand jury begins hearing evidence on April 30th, and the process should last 10 days.
Calls for comments to the Ohio Attorney Generals Office, and Steubenville high School have not been returned.
By Sherry Pasquarello,CJE – Well, today’s the day. Five Presidents will gather to open the library of George W. Bush. I have always thought that having an entire building for one man’s presidential papers a bit arrogant but that’s just me. The fact that THIS man gets a building to rewrite his time in office, complete with all the newest interactive technology and bells and whistles upsets me.
Oh, the comedians are having a great time with Bush having a library. I admit I laughed at the vision of dozens of empty shelves and one copy of, “MY PET GOAT” sitting there but it was a bitter laugh.
The Bush apologist trolls have been hitting talk radio and right wing television for a week at least and popping up all over social media. A poll taken the other day even has Bush’s approval rating up a few from when he left office.
Really? Do we as a nation suffer from that short of a memory or do we really not CARE that he cost us so much “ blood and treasure” as the pundits have labeled death and disablement and bankrupting?
It's a question on many minds in the Weirton, West Virgina and Ohio Valley Areas. The case is 2 years old with one man being charged, and eventually all charges being dismissed. A grand Jury was convened in January to see if any other individuals would be charged, or if new charges would be filed against the original suspect. The grand jury found no reason to file additional charges, or charge anyone else.
The case has come back into the public's eyes lately with facebook pages titled Justice for Khylii and Khylii's Justice. An online petition has been set up to reopen the case, refile charges and bring justice for Khylii Keffer who sustained heavy trauma to her stomach on February 27, 2011.
According to Paramedic dispatch reports and records, on February 17. 2011 Paramedics arrived on scene at Khylii's home at 5:57 Pm for a 3 year old that was lethargic, and turning blue. They were met on the front steps by Amber Coen (Khylii's mom) who was carrying Khylii outside.
WS – Sad day Indeed!
Brooklyn native opened Woodstock in 1969
Richie Havens, who brought an earthy soulfulness to the folk scene of the Sixties and was the first act to hit the stage at Woodstock, died of a heart attack on Monday, April 22. He was 72 and was living in Jersey City, New Jersey. Last month, Havens announced he would no longer be touring due to health issues.
From the beginning, when he played Village folk clubs in the mid-Sixties, Havens stood out due to more than just his imposing height (he was six-and-a-half feet tall) and his ethnicity (African-American in a largely white folk scene). He played his acoustic guitar with an open tuning and in a fervent, rhythmic style, and he sang in a sonorous, gravel-road voice that connected folk, blues and gospel.
As if the process of growing up and going to high school isn't hard enough. Our youth today face struggles of being accepted in social circles, the occassional school shootings, bullying and harrasment as well as trying to get a decent education.
Imagine the struggle of transgendered student Issak Wolfe. Issak who received massive support from other students and faculty for his transition being fully acknowledged by his new name, decided to run for prom king of Red Lion High School. (Red Lion Highschool is located in Pennsylvania) Many students pledged their support to vote for Issak this year, and his name was added to the ballot. He pretty much had it won based on speaking with other students.
On the day of voting, Issak went to place a vote for himself as prom king. He was shocked, embarrassed, and humiliated to discover that he was removed from the ballot as prom king.
Issak went to principal's office to find out why he was removed from the ballot and was told he was unable to meet with Principal Shue (head principal of Red Lion High School.)
Eventually Issak learned that the reason he was removed from the ballot for prom king was that head principal Mark Shue wasuncomfortable with the boy running for prom king being transgendered.
Calls to Red Lion high school, Principal Mark Shue, and Superindent Dr.Dailey (This reporter has left 2 voicemails for each) Emails to Mr. Shue have been bounced back as undeliverable using the emails listed from the School's website.
WS – Is there any Nazi atrocities that Israel will not commit?
A Palestinian released from Israeli jails, Rania Saqa, has brought to light that the Israeli regime injected detainees that are out of prisons with dangerous viruses.
Noting that Palestinian prisoners suffer from serious and chronic diseases such as bladder cancer and liver disorders, Rania has revealed that the Tel Aviv regime injects prisoners with dangerous viruses before releasing them.
The released prisoner has asked the many institutions and the international community to examine them carefully.
Recently, the International Solidarity for Human Rights Institute warned that the Israeli regime uses and abuses Palestinian prisoners to test their new drugs, and this contradicts international medical and moral principles. More…

By Joe McEvoy, Editor WWH/CJE – Cy Vance, the Manhattan DA ,through his office announced that he will not prosecute the NYPD officer who pepper sprayed Occupy Wall Street protesters without provocation.
Inspector Tony Bologna, did receive a slap on the wrist though. He was disciplined by the NYPD for violently assaulting with pepper spray, two women who were held behind mesh police netting during a OWS demonstration in 2011. The department docked him 10 vacation days and reassigned him to Staten Island, to abuse others out of site of video cameras, no doubt.
Violent criminals like Inspector Tony Bologna, are not loose cannons, bad apples in an orchard of fine fruit or a minority in law enforcement here in the good ole” USA. Violent criminals like Inspector Tony ‘ the woman beater’ Bologna and Inspector Johnny Cardona, (Johnny ‘the punk’ Cardona sucker-punched a protester without provocation in full view of the press during an Occupy Wall Street march in October 2011.) are the enforcers for the corrupt politicians, bankers, rich, and connected in this country.
“Love em’ later… Stop them first” JM
One of the objectives of the false flag Boston Marathon bombing terror attack, was to create fear, confusion, anger, and hatred, in the subconscious minds of the masses, the millions of people who absorb and accept the "New Normal", whenever the people in power implement a tactic or agenda (Problem).
After the media saturates the minds of the masses, the government has a greater role in their lives to rule over them and control them.
The media conditioned the masses to cheer the police and soldiers after the suspect was caught, and the whole city of Boston came out of their houses, cheering the soldiers and police, waving their flags, and singing the national anthem (Reaction).
Hippie Digest: Storm Thorgerson, RIP – Berkeley Hippies Attack… – Laos Hippies during Vietnam – ‘Searching for Sugar Man’ – Ours
Legendary album art designer Storm Thorgerson, RIP
Storm Thorgerson, whose album cover artwork includes Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, has died aged 69, the band’s management has confirmed.
A childhood friend of the founding members of the band, he became their designer-in-chief, fashioning a string of eye-catching creations.
Most-famously he designed the prism spreading a spectrum of colour across The Dark Side Of The Moon.
His credits also include albums by Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and Muse.
His family released a statement saying he died peacefully on Thursday surrounded by family and friends.
“He had been ill for some time with cancer though he had made a remarkable recovery from his stroke in 2003,” it said.
“He is survived by his mother Vanji, his son Bill, his wife Barbie Antonis and her two children Adam and Georgia.” More…
Video: Homeless Berkeley Hippies Attack Stanley Roberts
A pair of dreadlock-sporting vagrants in Berkeley attacked noted KRON 4 reporter (and SFist favorite) Stanley Roberts this week while he was doing a segment outside Amoeba Music on Telegraph Avenue.
The journalist, best know for his “People Behaving Badly” news segments, was preparing a report on problematic panhandlers. He soon found himself on the receiving end of some bad behavior by said mendicants. More…
Now, i’ve been thinking about my previous posts and all the claims of what I did. I organized this, I did this, blahblahblah,..but when I really think about it, I was always part of organizing, amongst organizing and never alone organizing. I might just be trying to say that “I” can be deceptive and hope that it in no way omits anyone elses involvement in organizing and participating in the various events I may reference. I suppose that memory may be like that, placing you in the center of the event as though it revolved around you… anyway.. my first day in NYC, my first meeting in NYC, “New Yorkers Against Budget Cuts.”
I’m trying to recall the walk. The path that I took to get to the union hall, and what we talked about. I can piece a little together. Maybe I can’t, at least I can say, that I’d heard of New Yorkers Against Budget Cuts(NYABC). They recently organized an encampment against Bloomberg’s, you guessed it, budget cuts. They’d camped outside of city hall for weeks, been pushed around by the police, drums, and music, and finally a final push to stop the budget cut meeting from happening–arrests. New Yorkers Against Budget Cuts had also been part of a large coalition….(do I look up dates) which had marched on wall street earlier in 2011. From my understanding 10′s of thousands of people circled the area, but no one was able to get to wall street. That’s what I knew about NYABC, or what I have come to know.

By Sherry Pasquarello,CJE - I am so angry I have no way to really express the depths of it. I was going to list the names and the office phone numbers of the selfish, greedy cowards that voted down the background checks but then I thought, “anyone that is too frigging lazy to not already know who voted for or against this isn’t worth my time to print it up for them!”
As for those worthless members that voted it down, including the Democrats. SHAME on you all! If there was ever a reason for TERM LIMITS you spineless people are it. More worried about keeping your cushy jobs than protecting the people that you are supposed to serve. The next tragedy, and there sadly, will be one, you had better hide your heads in shame and don’t even consider making a statement to the media expressing how deeply you are affected. Hypocritical slugs!
And then, there is the FUCKING MEDIA WHORES- FOX news, gloating all the while knowing that their lies and spin helped create the culture we find ourselves in. Oh and a big” EAT S***T AND DROP DEAD” to the little wanna be Limbaugh( I will not name him and give him the publicity) who said the reprehensible things about the parents of those slaughtered kids!
Direct Action, Occupy and the Power of Social Movements: An Interview With Noam Chomsky
Submitted by Shane Burley of Rochester Red and Black on Thu, 2013-04-18 19:37
Shane Burley of Rochester Red and Black interviewed Noam Chomsky for his upcoming housing documentary "Expect Resistance."
Original article can be found here:
As a commentator, educator, public intellectual, and one of the best known anarchist voices in the U.S., Noam Chomsky has become a defining perspective as social movements develop. His analysis of the shift in global capitalism, and our own role in its flux, has seen a recharge of importance as we entered the “new normal” of the post-2008 economy. Like was done with workplace struggles at the birth of the union movement, we are attempting to locate housing struggles out of the abstract legislative sphere and back into the neighborhoods. With the foreclosure crisis and the Occupy Movement that followed, a housing movement that saw occupation and defense as central began to be birthed against all conventional wisdom.
I sat down with Noam Chomsky to discuss the growing Take Back the Land and housing justice movements, the nature of the foreclosure crisis, the Occupy Movement, and what radical politics will look like in this new period of social movements.
WS – Corporate Media has browned out the whole Manning case, except when the opportunity presented itself for Government propaganda. (Useful when your media company is also owned by “War Profiteers” and corrupt 1%ers.) Now their upset they got included in the “Browning Out”. If the Corporate media want’s to cry censorship, they should have reported the whole truth (Still Could) about the Manning persecution, torture and political imprisonment of this brave young man, the evil war crimes he exposed and the abuse of power our (Your) President is guilty of. Free Bradley Manning arrest Bush Obama and leave the reporting to the alternative news folks.
A U.S. military appeals court Wednesday refused to give journalists access to documents in Bradley Manning’s court-martial.
The Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, in a 3-2 decision, rejected arguments by the Center for Constitutional Rights.
“Today’s decision flies in the face of decades of First Amendment rulings in the federal courts that hold that openness affects outcome — that the accuracy of court proceedings depends on their being open,” said Shayana Kadidal, the senior attorney who argued the case for the center.
WS – If you never heard of it… It never happened. On to the next article.
The online, low-profile, non-profit InsideClimate News won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting for “The Dilbit Disaster: Inside the Biggest Oil Spill You’ve Never Heard Of,” its seven-month investigation into the million-gallon spill of Canadian tar sands oil into the Kalamazoo River in 2010 – triggering the most expensive, and still unfinished, cleanup in U.S. history – which grew into a damning look at national pipeline safety issues and the hazards posed by diluted bitumen, or “dilbit.” Yes: same stuff in the ExxonMobil spill in Arkansas, and Keystone XL. More…
WS – Another reason for getting rid of the USPS? We’ll see.
9 jurors and 5 alternates were selected for the Steubenville grand jury set to investigate further charges against others in the Steubenville case. The jury was whittled down from 150 jefferson county residents that reported to the courthouse yesterday morning. The grand jury will be tasked with deciding if other crimes were commited by 16 indivduals.
A Missouri School Trains Its Teachers to Carry Guns, and Most Parents Approve
WS – What Bullshit! - The only source for the headline cited in the whole article… “With few exceptions, school officials said, parents have reacted positively.”
It’s not shit reporting. It’s paid disinformation and propaganda from the NRA and gun lobbyist. (Follow the money!)
At 8:30 on a cloudy, frigid morning late last month in this folksy Ozark town, the superintendent of an area school strolled through the glass doors of the local newspaper office to deliver a news release.
Hours later, the content of that release produced a front-page headline in The West Plains Daily Quill that caught residents off guard: “At Fairview School Some Employees Now Carry Concealed Weapons.”
That was how most parents of Fairview students learned that the school had trained some of its staff members to carry weapons, and the reaction was loud — and mostly gleeful.
“Sooo very glad to hear this,” a woman whose grandchildren attend Fairview posted on the Facebook page of The Quill, adding, “All schools in America should do this.”
