Following a 14 hour session in court, the trial of Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond resumed at 8:30 this morning. The prosecution opened things up by calling 16 year old Gionna Anile from West Virginia, a former friend of Jane Doe’s since Kindergarten.
Miss Anile came to the Steubenville area with Jane Doe and Kelsey Weaver on the August 11, 2012.
Gianna testified that Jane Doe was extremely intoxicated at the Bellardine house party and was drinking a large slushie from a local gas station that Doe and 2 others mixed with a bottle of Vodka the girls had brought from home.
Joe McEvoy,CJE – The following editorial from; William Rivers Pitt, Truthout is a welcome revelation from at least one “Progressive” news and opinion outlet. Let’s hope it is not just another voice in the “Cyber Wilderness”.
Mr. Pitts moral awakening is not total and the fog from his “Coma” still hasn’t lifted completely.
Although Mr. Pitts contrition is heartfelt and revealing, his inability to let go his Obamachrist Religion completely is obvious (to me). I prey his recovery will continue and with enough therapy be complete.
Mr. Pitts states in this article;
Make no mistake, now: that’s not an “Obama is the same as Bush” argument. Nobody is Bush, because Bush stands alone, and whoever makes that kind of equivalency either slept through the first eight years of this century, hit their head and forgot what those eight years were like, or is trying to sell you something.
Let me assure you Mr. Pitt; I have not slept through the first eight years of this century. I was wide awake through the many marches is Washington, the bugging of my car, the attacks on my computers and the sickening visions of real terror from “America the Beautiful”. I did not hit my head and forgot what those eight years were like either, nor am I trying to sell anyone anything.
I do believe Obama is as evil as Bush, in some ways worse. The dead, tortured and oppressed are the foundations of that belief. The Capstone; Mr. Obamas’ refusal to prosecute any Bush war criminals, portrayers of crimes against humanity or war profiteers.
To your good health Mr. Pitt…
WS – You didn’t really think Obama would raise the minimum wage without giving Big Businesses a few loopholes and more profits off the low wage workers sweat. Get ready for the big spin folks.
President Obama called for a modest raise in the federal minimum wage to $9 in his State of the Union Address, and several Democratic legislators have upped his bid with a proposed increase to $10.10.
But an insidious effort to lower the wage floor is already underway much closer to the ground—in the state legislatures where right-wing lobbyists have been greasing the skids for years for an onslaught of anti-worker policies.
An extensive analysis recently published by labor advocacy organization the National Employment Law Project tracks more than 100 bills introduced in 31 states since January 2011 that “aim to repeal or weaken core wage standards at the state or local level.” Each bears the fingerprint of notorious super-lobbying organization the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), which acts as a forum for “private sector leaders” to advise public officials. Most of the anti-worker bills were proposed by lawmakers directly linked to ALEC and include language that echoes that of “model legislation” developed by ALEC. Among the proposals are measures to undercut minimum wages for teenage workers, restrict overtime pay and repeal or ban local laws to improve working conditions.
By Sherry Pasquarello,CJE – Old habits die hard. I was glued to the television at the first wisp of white smoke. I haven’t been in a church other than weddings or funerals for decades. But I wasn’t going to miss this bit of history. Besides, there wasn’t a darn thing on other than the Vatican pick- a -pope anyway. I can tell you this much, if I had been in Vatican City today I would have been indoors watching it on a T.V. not standing in the dark and rain. I may be a history buff but I’m not courting pneumonia to see anyone!
Wave of “Ag Gag” Bills Threaten Food Safety and Freedom of the Press
WS – America is a Corporate State. That is the only State. Freedom of the Press is threatened?
Bullshit… It’s gone from the Mainstream. Reporters from all Main Stream News sign it away when they get hired. Allegiance to the Corporation is prerequisite to even work in the Media. Alternative News Sources are marginalized, even on the Internet. And don’t give me the “Well your website is still online” mantra. The US government is all over my site, monitoring, it. WTF … Do you think Google got so big and profitable without pledging allegiance to the US government? And don’t get me started on Food Safety… - Did I mention I haven’t had my coffee yet?
By Diana May-Waldman,CJE-”Rape Culture is concept used to describe a culture in which rape and sexual violence are common and in which prevalent attitudes, norm, practices, and media normalize, excuse, tolerate and even condone rape”
Allegations of rape have rocked Steubenville, Ohio after two high school football players have gone on trial for raping a 16-year old girl.
The trial began on Wednesday and it was ordered that no cellphones, laptops or electronic devices be permitted in the courtroom.

Profit Centers in Schools: Remember how, a couple of weeks ago, I noted that NYC Mayor Michaerl Bloombberg was investing money and influence in a school-board election in Los Angeles? Well, it’s overand the billionaires won:
As defense lawyers try to have the case dismissed against Trent Mays and Ma'lik Richmond due to a West Virginia judge refusing to order Jane Doe's friends to testify in a Steubenville Ohio case, The town of Steubenville held a press conference one day before the trials begin.
The last time Steubenville held a press conference was on January 5, 2013 to announce the launch of Steubenvillefacts.org, a unhackable website where the town would fight back against the "misinformation spread by anonymous and the media as it pertained to the Steubenville case. The website offered no facts in the case, and was promptly hacked by @nazigods and taken offline within minutes of the announcement. City Manager Cathy Davison swore the website was run by the city, but the website is actually owned and maintained by a mysetery company in Arizona.
The 9:55 a.m. quake had an estimated magnitude of 4.7, said Nick Scheckel, seismic analyst at the California Institute of Technology’s seismological laboratory.
He said a number of aftershocks were occurring.
The epicenter was about a dozen miles from the desert town of Anza, about 100 miles southeast of Los Angeles. More…
WS – Will Tanning Shops now have free aspirin giveaways?
Women who take aspirin on a regular basis have a lower risk for developing melanoma, according to the largest US study ever conducted into potential ways to prevent this most dangerous form of skin cancer.
There are reasons that shouldn’t merit forgiveness and there are even more times that even if we forgive we should never forget. Forgiving and forgetting certain crimes just led to worse crimes and harder times for everyone.
Now, I’m not saying we shouldn’t forgive, especially in matters that touch us personally. That should be up to those involved, family, friends, coworkers…
No, I’m talking about the things that have affected us as a whole. Just think what might have never happened a few decades later if Ford had not pardoned Nixon. I know Fords reasoning. He didn’t want our country bogged down with a long and divisive trial coming at the end of the Vietnam War. He said he wanted the nation to move forward. I’ll take him at his word on that and go from there but I think the Nixon pardon set a wrong tone and a bad example for the crooked and the weak political figures that came after. Sure, some of Nixon’s friends and coworkers spent some jail time, but it wasn’t what I’d consider “hard time” and when they were done, instead of any embarrassment over their crimes and an effort to live down their reputations, they got themselves agents and book deals and speakers fees, radio programs and one even found a job embracing Jesus.
WS – Beautiful! A real man.
This week the NYPD posted a photo on their Facebook page given to them by Jennifer Foster of Arizona, who was visiting Times Square on November 14th, and it’s some straight-up modern day Norman Rockwell stuff. Foster and her husband saw a homeless man on the sidewalk without shoes, asking for change—she wrote to the NYPD:
“Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, ‘I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer’s name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared.” More…

Why the Police in Michael Premo’s Occupy Wall Street Trial Are Unlikely To Face Perjury Charges
Many of the readers who commented on last week’s story about Michael Premo, the Occupy Wall Street protester who beat his criminal charges last week thanks to video evidence, wanted to know: Would the police officer whose testimony was contradicted by the video face any consequences? Would he be charged with perjury?
The short answer is: Don’t hold your breath.
But that’s not to say that a closer look at Premo’s trial doesn’t reinforce the impression that the police testimony against him looks a lot like perjury.
JM – Angel, your group LoveCry The Streetkids Organization has quite a presence on FaceBook. Can you tell our readers about it and your reason for starting it?
A – I have been directing LoveCry for 20 years now and when I first saw FaceBook I felt it would be a great way to keep in touch with all the kids for free, then it grew so we send out information to everyone we can regarding abuse, healing and love.
JM – Can you tell our readers more about yourself and your history as an activist?
A – I was raised in a small town, in an abusive family. I worked part time from the age of 12 and then at 17 I began to work full time. I have three kids and totally broke down in 1981 from there I went to the streets.
WS – Let the Inquisition begin. Know now that all limits are gone as this evil man is now your paid torturer. You can never say; “I did not know.” (Unless told to under torture.)
The U.S. Senate voted 63-34 Thursday to confirm John Brennan as the next director of the CIA.
Notice of the vote was immediately sent to President Obama in the White House that Brennan’s long, rocky road to the post was over.
“With the bipartisan confirmation of John Brennan as director of the Central Intelligence Agency, the Senate has recognized in John the qualities I value so much — his determination to keep America safe, his commitment to working with Congress, his ability to build relationships with foreign partners, and his fidelity to the values that define us as a nation,” Obama said in a statement. Anonymous Demands Justice for Three-Year-Old Khylii Keffer, Domestic Violence Survivor from Weirton, West Virginia
On February 17th, 2011, an ambulance was sent to the residence of Amber Coen and her boyfriend, Don Weekley II. Inside the home, paramedics found three-year-old Khylii Keffer’s limp, nearly-lifeless body. She was unresponsive, and her skin was an alarming purple hue, indicating that she was receiving little oxygen. The on-scene paramedics’ report described her as “flaccid, demonstrating no motor control.” Her body was beginning to shut down, they said, and blood was rushing from her arms and legs in order to save her vital organs. The little girl was transported to Weirton Medical Center, and was then life-flighted to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was taken to surgery and then placed on life support in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. The emergency procedure left the little girl’s stomach exposed for nearly eight days (1).
Doctors believed Khylii sustained traumatic internal injuries around February 17th, which caused a large hole in her stomach. Infection from her untreated injuries caused the three-year-old to go into septic shock, resulting in the purplish color paramedics described upon their arrival. They were able to establish this approximate timeline based on her stomach contents (1).
By Sherry Pasquarello,CJE – There are more than a few differences between the two major political parties, some good, some not so much. There’s a popular saying about not arguing with stupid people because they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. That may be true in most cases but not in the case of some republicans and certainly not with FOX “news” yakkers.
This viral video is right: We need to worry about wealth inequality
WS – Worry about it? WTF, we’re living it. File this one under; Done.
Infographics on the distribution of wealth in America, highlighting both the inequality and the difference between our perception of inequality and the actual numbers. The reality is often not what we think it is.
WS -Hee, hee, snicker, snicker… It’s the little “tickles” in life that makes me smile and keeps me pushing and agitating the “Man”.
Twelve Occupy Philadelphia protesters were arrested on November 18, 2011 when they staged a sit-in inside a Wells Fargo branch to protest the company’s blatantly discriminatory practices and “racist predatory lending” policies which caused a large number of home foreclosures in Philly’s African American neighborhoods.
WS – Is this a budget decision to save money by eliminating the cost of renditioning Americans to other countries and Guantanamo bay? – He’s brilliant!
Yes, the president does have the authority to use military force against American citizens on US soil—but only in “an extraordinary circumstance,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a letter to Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Tuesday.
“The US Attorney General’s refusal to rule out the possibility of drone strikes on American citizens and on American soil is more than frightening,” Paul said Tuesday. “It is an affront the constitutional due process rights of all Americans.”
Last month, Paul threatened to filibuster the nomination of John Brennan, Obama’s pick to head the CIA, “until he answers the question of whether or not the president can kill American citizens through the drone strike program on US soil.” Tuesday, Brennan told Paul that “the agency I have been nominated to lead does not conduct lethal operations inside the United States—nor does it have any authority to do so.” Brennan said that the Justice Department would answer Paul’s question about whether Americans could be targeted for lethal strikes on US soil.
