For over 4 months, students and their allies, took over the streets of Montreal every day, to protest a tuition hike imposed by the liberal party in Quebec.
On September 21st, the newly elected Premier of Quebec scrapped the tuition hike and repealed a controversial law, that effectively banned public demonstrations.
While this is being touted as a victory by many in the student movement, one element that made this success possible is already being overshadowed. How the the movement's militant street politics transformed the student strike from a single issue campaign to an uncompromising social insurrection.
www.indiegogo.com For over a decade subMedia has been covering resistance movements from around the world. Our efforts have taken us to Mexico, Japan, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and all over North America. Our mission is to connect with the fighters on the ground and bring you the stories of those who choose to join the resistance. In our next report, we take you inside the Quebec student strike, where massive street demonstrations escalated into continuous militant actions which lead to a repressive anti protest law and a generalized social strike. Street Politics 101 Consider supporting non-corporate, crowd funded, radical, movement driven media. You can view our past crowd funded reports on the links on the screen.
This is the second video subMedia.tv has produced about the struggle to stop the a natural gas transport project called the Pacific Trails Pipeline or PTP. The Unis'tot'en, a clan of the Wet'suet'en Nation have built a protection camp to bock PTP, in so called British Columbia in Canada. This is the third time the Unis'tot'en have called for a convergence in their territories. This year's camp attracted over 150 people who came from as far east as Montreal and as far south as Florida. The camp organizers opted not to tap large environmental ngo's for material support, and instead reached out to grassroots, community based allies. Out of the proposed pipeline projects that would cross through Unis'tot'en land, Pacific Trails is the first one slated to begin construction and poses and immediate threat.

http://submedia.tv/stimulator/2012/07/09/this-is-athens A personal account of my short visit to Athens, Greece. My initial intent was to do a report on the anarchist neighbourhood assemblies. Truth be told this task was more challenging than I expected. Few within the neighbourhood assembly scene agreed to be video taped or photographed for fear of retaliation by the police, their employers and fascists. I was also made aware of the troubling hardships undocumented immigrants and their supporters face, the rise of the neo-nazi party Golden Dawn, and the role of the police in suppressing social struggles. This piece is only a snapshot of the complex situation of a country in a state of "civil war." and how anarchists are reacting to it.
This week an exclusive interview with Antonis Vradis of Occupied London. Antonis filled us in on the history and actions of the anarchists in Greece.
