Last Night at The Rex Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pa everyone was high on Pennsylvania Blue Grass, as Cabinet came to town with the Dead Winter Carpenters.
Here's their encore from last night
Political struggles over the future of Turkey have left the country profoundly divided. Former prime minister, now president, Tayyip Erdogan, has fueled the growing polarization through his authoritarian response to protests, his large-scale urban development projects, his religious social conservatism, and most recently, through his complicity in the Islamic State's war against the Kurdish people in Northern Syria. In the year after the Gezi uprising, protests continue against the government's urban redevelopment plans, against police repression, in response to repression of the Kurdish and Alevi populations, and in honor of the martyrs that lost their lives as a result of the uprising. Most recently angry protests and riots have spread across the country in solidarity with the Kurdish people's protection units fighting against the Islamic State in Kobane, Rojava. This film chronicles a year of uprisings, resistance and repression since the Gezi uprising in Turkey.
Alot of Boombox fans have heard that they recently added a drum kit to their set during the fall tour.

RAW EDIT (SOME POOR AUDIO) These interviews and this footage just came hot off the fire line of the October 2014 Klamath River Training Exchange (TREX) in which approximately 40 local and out of the area "fire-lighters" learned to use prescribed fire around homes in the fire-adapted and fire-starved mountains of the Klamath and Salmon Rivers. Interviews are both from TREX participants and local Klamath and Salmon River residents. This was a very important and healing event for our communities, multiple burns were implemented in areas with great cultural significance to Karuk and Yurok people.
The 3rd Annual Wellness & Water Conference focused on the threats to our water from chemical manufacturing & storage, mountaintop removal coal mining, and Marcellus Shale drilling, and explored measures we can take to safeguard our wellness and water with panels featuring scientists and affected residents, informational tables, open-space discussions and our featured speakers — Dr. Rahul Gupta and two Goldman Environmental Prize winners, Helen Slottje and Maria Gunnoe.
This video features Greg Palast speaking on a panel of alternative media dignataries about what we can do to reach a wider audience and be more effective as journalists working outside of the mainstream distribution outlets. The short answer: "don't be so fucking dull". This was filmed at The Boston Social Forum, a counter convention of sorts that took place in the days leading up to the Democratic National Convention in 2004.
The video was meant as a prequel to my convention coverage and was filmed and upload the day before the convention started. I met a great journalist this day and together we scouted the 1st ever instance of a designated caged area called a Protest Pen, a Freedom Cage, etc etc. No, it wasn't Greg Palast.

Soon thousands of folks will be hoping on buses heading to New York for the "Biggest Most Important Climate Change Protest in History". Every year or 2 someone makes this claim in the lead up to a protest and it rarely lives up to the hype. I wish they were always accurate and every protest could make this claim with an avalanche of ever increasing dissent that actually changes things, but alas, it just ain't so. Unfortunatly even if it is "the largest" what will be accomplished? Will the hard workin' nose to the grind stone regular folks who can't afford to pay attention to such things ever know what happened? How can you sway popular opinion when the masses don't know anything occured? It's partially the fault of mainstream media, partially the falt of alternative media and partialy the fault of a system that indoctrinates wage slaves from very early in life to believe the best they can do to make change in the world is to pick a team, red or blue; stick by their team their whole lives regardless of the teams post game antics. Regardless of whether the team gives a shit about the fans it blinds with false patriotism.

If you're reading this, then you weren't for the War in Iraq. You protested, probably got arrested, sat in that filthy jail for four days while the cops mocked your beliefs, made lewd comments about your wife, called you a hippie because that's all they got in well-developed intellect of American authoritah. It is the sign of a sick country when the people worship authority. Cops are heroes. All soldiers are great. Even corporate CEO's are seen as having some kind of tribal wisdom. The optionless crucifixion is the real American religion. Everyday we climb up on the cross of capitalism and say there ain't nuthin we can do. Eli eli lama sabacthani with two cheeseburgers and a coke. Chevy Truck staring at god. I'll get there someday cuz the lord jesus christ is my savior. I can do anything because I an American and we is saved. Do you accept? And meanwhile you're sitting on the goddamn train, or bus, or some increasingly disappearing public place where they have the temerity to come up to you and preach the word. The subtext of it all is that they are the real Americans. They are the ones who hold this country together despite Obamacare. They are the ones who work despite the lazy blacks, illegals and spoiled kids like you who never worked for nothing but just bitch all the time. And you sit quiet, digging the Buddhism you been reading about, saying to yourself like a mantra that it’s still America, land of a revolution where people like you fought and died for the human ideals that you are watching slip away.
Pittsburgh's New Police Chief Cameron Mclay greets members of the media and outlines a plan to restore honor, integrity, and accountability to the police department as well as restore the public's trust.

Yesterday, Bill McKibben of the environmental NGO 350.org had his Montreal talk disrupted by Amanda Lickers of Reclaim Turtle Island,...
Andrew Miller received a very light sentence by Judge Todd earlier this after noon. 7 years of probation with 9 months in a work release program, register and report as a sex offender for the next 15 years, and enter into a sexual predator treatment program.
Miller lost yet another job when his latest employers found out about his antics on September 5th, and his computer prgramming career is over per judge Todd's ruling that he is not allowed to posess or go anywhere near a computer during his 7 years of probation.
Two of Miller's victims read statements to the Judge before his decision asking for the maximum penalties allowed by law. One victim's letter told the court " That she lives in constant fear of Miller, and is very unsettled that he lives in her community."
Before his sentence, Miller rambled a half assed and incoherent apology to the court for his behavior.
"Mr. Miller, You have a wife and kids, you wouldn;t want someone sexually stalking them would you? I don't know what is wrong with you, but you have caused alot of damage to these women. If you violate the terms of this probation in any way, I will lock you up, not in the county jail, but in a penitentiary."
Miller showed no remorse for his actions and once again could not look his victims in the eye.
